Speaking in at a ceramah in Bukit Lan here on Sunday night, Wong said that though the state appears to have received a bigger allocation for development spending under Budget 2020, Unimas will only receive a grant amounting to RM17,469,900 next year.of RM24,805,100 represents a 58% decrease in fund allocation," Wong, a chartered accountant by profession, said.
He further pointed out the University of Sabah will be given a bigger allocation next year of RM43mil, compared to the RM28mil it received in 2019.Unimas, which was officially opened on Dec 24,1992, is the only public university in Sarawak and is ranked No. 236 in the QS Asian University Rankings. The total enrolment is about 18,000.
