Lee Jia Ming, a businesswoman, pleaded guilty after charges were read in front of Magistrate Sharifah Maleeha Syed Hussin at the Magistrate's Court here on Tuesday .
In the incident, footage of which went viral, a pickup truck driven by Lee is seen forcing other cars out of the way on the NSE and rams into a white supercar, which was travelling in a convoy. The convoy is then seen stopping in the middle of the highway, preventing all cars – including the pickup truck – from moving.According to the charge sheet, Lee had failed to control her vehicle, causing an accident to take place at KM34 of the NSE at 6.10pm on March 18.
She was charged under Section 119 of the Road Transport Act, which carries a fine of up to RM2,000 or a jail term not exceeding six months. Lee was represented by lawyer Tan Cheng Yee, while the case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Eddlynn Wong.Meanwhile, in the same court, 44-year-old driver Nor Razman Abd Razak was fined RM2,000 after pleading guilty to hurting Lee.He was charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt, which carries a jail term of up to one year or a maximum fine of RM2,000 or both upon conviction.
