JOHOR BARU: Malaysian Games (Sukma) venues throughout the state would not be white elephants despite the postponement of the sports event to 2024, says state tourism, youth and sports committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz.

JOHOR BARU: Malaysian Games venues throughout the state would not be white elephants despite the postponement of the sports event to 2024, says state tourism, youth and sports committee chairman Datuk Onn Hafiz .

Onn Hafiz said that some parties had even shown interest in renting the Sukma venues in Johor for sports activates. "We have been seeing signs of interest from our national cycling team to rent our velodrome. In fact, we also have those in Singapore that have showed similar interest in the velodrome," said Onn Hafiz."I assure the public and athletes that the Sukma venues would be put to good use in the next two year and would not turn into white elephants," he added.

The launch of the Festival, which aimed to get youths in Johor back to being active, was officiated by Tunku Mahkota Johor Tunku Ismail Ibni Sultan Ibrahim.
