"We believe that jealousy and financial problems prompted the two suspects to kill the woman,"said Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Stanley Jonathan Ringgit.

He said police were still investigating the death of Heng Meow Lin, 37, from Perak, whose body was found by a passerby at about 6.45am on Oct 6.ACP Stanley said a postmortem done on the body showed that the victim succumbed to asphyxia and head injury due to blunt force trauma. "There were also struggle marks on her neck and body, indicating that she was being choked and beaten," he added.Meanwhile, the two suspects, a man and a woman, had their remand extended for another seven days by the Magistrate's Court until Oct 19.

The duo, both aged 37, were arrested in a house on Jalan Tong Sang on Oct 6 in connection with the case.
