Sehingga kini angka kematian akibat Covid-19 melebihi 3,000 di republik China.

Covid-19 kini merebak ke kebanyakan negara yang merupakan rakan dagangan Malaysia dan langkah kawalan ketat yang diambil oleh negara ini memberi kesan kepada perniagaan dan perdagangan antarabangsa. Jelas, dalam ekonomi global yang bersepadu, krisis Covid-19 akan memperlahankan pertumbuhan KDNK negara. Banyak perniagaan akan terjejas mengakibatkan berlakunya pengangguran secara besar-besaran dan industri pelancongan pula akan terjejas teruk.

Walau apa pun, Yang lebih penting buat masa sekarang adalah negara harus bersedia sepenuhnya untuk menghadapi kesan berpanjangan Covid-19 kepada ekonomi negara. Malaysia juga harus bertindak cepat dan mengadakan sebuah pasukan misi kritikal terdiri daripada pakar kesihatan, penyelidik dan pakar ekonomi dan pemain industri bagi mencari jalan untuk menangani ancaman ini. Mungkin terdapat beberapa amalan terbaik yang boleh negara ambil dari negara lain.
