KLANG: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says his administration will ensure that stern measures will be taken against the country's top leadership to avoid misuse of power.

The Prime Minister also said that he wants to erase the image of Malaysia that is linked to disharmony among different races and religions as well as graft scandals."There must be a will to fight against corruption and disharmony," he said during an buka pusa ceremony at Masjid Ahmadi here on Wednesday ."That's why I will start from the top – because the country's system will spoil from the leadership.

"If a prime minister, finance minister or civil servants only look to enrich themselves and their families, the country will be doomed," he added. Anwar also said that the decision to require preachers to be accredited before being allowed to give ceramah at mosques and surau was not under the government's purview."It's not that we banned them , they can talk about politics but politics as a system, not with the intention to create chaos," he said.

The Prime Minister also took time talking and greeting guests of the Malaysia Madani Santunan Ramadan programme, which was also attended by state government representatives, tahfiz schoolchildren, orphans and locals. After breaking fast, Anwar joined the congregation for prayers with the community from nearby villages in Sementa here.
