PETALING JAYA: The issue of statelessness is a critical problem that needs international attention as it will have a negative impact on the country and the whole region, says Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin .
"We are still receiving a high number of stateless people from other countries in the region despite signing the Refugee Convention of 1951, especially Myanmar. The number is only getting higher. Muhyiddin added that the Malaysian government was still committed in strengthening cooperation with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in tackling the problem of statelessness.
