The Barisan Nasional chairman said after a special meeting with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Wednesday , it is clear that MIC and Umno have enjoyed strong relations since Barisan was formed in 1973.
"It is a desperate move by certain parties, not to mention the ongoing state polls," said Ahmad Zahid in a statement on Aug 2. "I always hope for the continuation of friendship from the top leadership to the grassroots to be defended forever," he added.
