310 recipients from the Masjid Tanah parliamentary constituency were presented the donations.

Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Sulaiman Md Ali said the donations were aimed at reducing the financial burden of the less fortunate to help them celebrate Raya.

“The Hari Raya donation is similar to donations channelled for other festivals, including Christmas, Chinese New Year and Deepavali.“The agencies and departments involved in the channelling of assistance include Melaka Social Welfare Department and Melaka Islamic Religious Council,” he said at the 2022 Melaka JKM Hari Raya Aidilfitri donation presentation.

At the ceremony, Also present were women affairs, family development and welfare committee chairman Datuk Kalsom Nordin and Melaka JKM director Burhanuddin Bachik. Sulaiman said the state government also agreed to increase the number of aid recipients from JKM’s list from 1,400 last year to 1,740 recipients this year, which involved an RM384,000 allocation. — Bernama
