KOTA KINABALU (Bernama): A total of 24 fraud cases involving face mask and disinfectant sales with estimated losses of RM147,329 has been reported in the district from the outbreak of Covid-19 up till Friday (May 15).

Kota Kinabalu police chief Asst Comm Habibi Majinji said all the cases involved complainants being duped by offers made on social media.

"After the victims made their online payments to the ‘seller’, the goods did not arrive and the seller was unreachable, they then realised they had been deceived and lodged their reports, ” he said in a statement Friday.ACP Habibi advised the public to be cautious so as not to be hoodwinked by advertisements and offers for face masks and disinfectants on social media or online shopping websites.
