Home Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the Cabinet had given the green light to form the special task force, which will be headed by his ministry.
“The Cabinet has agreed to form this task force to resolve the issue urgently,” Muhyiddin told a press conference, adding that the task force would also be responsible for carrying out special operations to stop the encroachments. Muhyiddin said the number of reported encroachments had gone up due to the current squid season in the east coast.Industry Minister Datuk Salahuddin Ayub and Deputy Defence Minister Liew Chin Tong were also present at the press conference.
“Our fishermen in the east coast have often complained about the threat from foreign vessels, especially those from Vietnam.
