SINGAPORE: The number of child abuse cases investigated by the Early Childhood Development Agency (ECDA) increased to 147 cases in 2023, from 137 cases in 2022.

Sophia Albarakbah is tired of playing roles that require her to be gentle and sweet and dreams of taking on action-packed and rugged roles."I really want to do intense action-packed roles and play epic characters as well. These are roles I haven’t tried yet but if given the opportunity, I will definitely do my best.

"I won't deny that action roles come with risks but once I accept the challenge, I will do my best. Although it's challenging, it will be an exciting experience., while I was doing a scene where I was required to ‘fly’, one of the ropes holding me snapped and I nearly fell if not for the quick action of the film crew who lowered me safely,” she said."It may not be in the near future but maybe one day , every actor has this dream.

"Currently, I am taking acting classes and doing a lot of homework to improve my acting skills. I’m also discussing with directors ," she said. When asked about the controversies hounding her, the actress said she has chosen to put them aside and, instead, focus on her career and improve her acting skills.
