Stopping short of identifying those behind the plot, he said there were attempts to oust him since the first day he assumed the post and insisted that he was “still the mentri besar”.
“My exco members and I are still focused on our work and while ensuring that the state assembly goes on smoothly, at the same time we are busy carrying out our respective duties. That is more important. Among the complaints were that he was always late for meetings, had a tendency to skip events involving the Sultan of Perak, and indecisive during exco meetings.
“We all know that state opposition leader Datuk Saarani Mohamad had been issuing statements of an exco member who allegedly met Umno assemblymen to garner support as the next mentri besar,” he said, adding that he had yet to listen to the recording.“You should meet my mother and hear what she says about me, and oh, there are a lot of harsh comments by my wife against me,” he quipped.
“For now, tankers are still supplying water to the affected residents. We await further instructions from the National Water Services Commission to the Perak Water Board.
