LETTER | Ravi has been harassed and intimidated by the Singapore gov't since taking up cases of Malaysian drug mules on death row.

| We refer to the raid yesterday morning by the Singapore police force on the legal firm of prominent Singapore human rights lawyer M Ravi.

In the incident yesterday the Singapore police claimed to be investigating Ravi for contempt of court in relation to a case involving a Singaporean who was extradited from Malaysia to Singapore, in which Ravi was acting as counsel. There is now a clear pattern of intimidation and unlawful actions by the state of Singapore against Mr Ravi.

With yesterday’s police action and impounding of passport, it is now uncertain whether Mr Ravi will be allowed to argue Malaysian Gobi’s case. The actions by the Singapore authorities against Ravi are in breach of Article 9 of the Singapore Constitution which guarantees the right to a fair trial.
