Silent Hill 2, a remake of Konami’s legendary 2001 survival horror game currentlyin the works at Layers of Fear developer Bloober, got a new trailer during the January 31 Sony State of Play. Bloober released its first Silent Hill 2 teaser in October 2022, unveiling the remake’s renditions of foggy old town Silent Hill and grimy executioner and series patron monster Pyramid Head, as well as a particularly haggard James Sunderland. Everyone freaked out.
In a November 2022 interview with Polish culture site Rytmy, Bloober creative director Mateusz Lenart said that in “the first months of working on the Silent Hill 2 remake, we played the original very closely” and felt that its “world building and plot are its strongest points,” though its combat system could use a reset with improved enemy AI. The remake will also swap the original’s fixed camera angles for an over-the-shoulder third-person perspective, similar to Resident Evil 4.
