Karim Hamzah was justified in lashing out at the Pakatan Harapan-led federal government over insufficient coverage of state programmes by RTM, says a political analyst.
“To me, I cannot see that RTM has really changed how it operates,” said Jeniri, whose expertise is political communications. He said while it was understandable if RTM did not cover events organised by the ruling Gabungan Parti Sarawak , it should give airtime to state programmes and sports.Jeniri agreed that when it came to state programmes, RTM should highlight what Sarawak was doing just as it would highlight what other Pakatan Harapan-controlled state governments did.
“This goes beyond politics, a state media should promote national integration and nation building, people in other parts of Malaysia need to see what is happening here. This is the new Malaysia, show you are mature.”
