With the completion of Sunway Medical Centre 3, or SMC 3 (Tower C) for short in 2017, SunwayMedicalCentre sets a new benchmark for all private medical facilities.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary this November, Sunway Medical Centre continues to invest in not just skilled personnel and advanced equipment and facilities, but also in creating platforms for knowledge-sharing amongst medical practitioners.

With only one single-bed ward rooms on offer, every patient is assured of one-to-one, personalised care.SMC was built as an extension to the existing Tower A and Tower B, and comprises 10 floors including a basement with an adjoining carpark facility. Besides these, the basement of SMC also houses the Siemens xSPECT-CT that allows sharp clinical detail and accurate measurement of diseases, and the Siemens PET/CT, a powerful imaging technique that combines both CT and PET scans.

To ensure a homogenous bond without any cold joints, the concrete is customised for ice mixture. Steel fibre was also added to the thick concrete and casting was separated up to 7 times to control shrinkage or crackling. This feature is also prominent in wards and supporting facilities. The façade is also enhanced by landscape terraces with its greenery, which also serve to add to the well-being of patients and visitors.

As a family-centred medical centre, facilities in SMC support patients of all ages. A dedicated paediatrics ward is located at Level 5. Designed for children’s comfort, its rooms are equipped with child-friendly beds and accented with more vibrant-coloured walls. And to add cheer, nurses don uniforms in livelier colours.

At the same event, Sunway Medical Centre was further recognised as Oncology Service Provider of the Year, Neurology Service Provider of the Year and Urology Service Provider of the Year – all for the Asia Pacific region.
