KUALA LUMPUR: Perak captain Shahrul Saad wants to make it a glorious family affair in the FA Cup.

Shahrul was only 11 when he watched his elder brother Syamsul hoist the FA Cup with Perak in 2004. It was the last time Perak won the coveted Cup.

“My brother has always been there for me since I started my football career,” said Shahrul, who is fondly known as Badak by his teammates. The Saad siblings are popular in Perak as Syamsul, Shahrul and another brother Syahrizal have featured for the state team in the Super League. “Winning the Malaysia Cup last year was a moment to savour and now, as the captain, I hope to win my second straight trophy.While Shahrul searches for his first FA Cup, Kedah’s captain Baddrol Bakhtiar will be banking on the wealth of his experience to gun for his fourth FA Cup after winning it in 2007, 2008 and 2017.
