The company said there had been an equipment malfunction with one of the main pumps at Sungai Selangor Phase 3 Water Treatment Plant.
"The incident resulted in a reduction in 40 million litres per day of treated water," said head of customer relationship and communication department Abdul Raof Ahmad in a statement on Thursday . "We are working on resolving this issue and have taken measures to distribute alternative supplies to avoid supply interruption impact to customers who are likely to be affected by this incident," he added.
Abdul Raof said there were no affected areas presently, but some places in Shah Alam could experience disruptions in water supply if the repair works were prolonged. "All efforts are being undertaken to avoid and minimise the impact of interruption to customers," he said, adding that information on the status of repair works could be accessed on the Air Selangor smart phone application and
