KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will ban the sale of the vape-like “Ghost Smoke” candy that seems to promote smoking among children, if the federal Health Ministry decides to do so.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said the state government does not see the benefits of selling these types of candy to children, as it seems to promote smoking from a young age.

He said although the candy might have been created based on “innovation”, it doesn’t resonate with local culture, and goes against the government’s efforts to promote healthy living among the people. “Innovation is good, but we have to see what values we are trying to promote as well,” he said after the opening ceremony of the new state library in Tanjung Aru near here on Thursday .
