KOTA KINABALU: Several youth leaders from Pakatan-linked parties in Sabah agree with the proposal to name Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal as the country's ninth prime minister.

DAP's Phoong Jin Zhe, who represented a group of youth leaders including Parti Warisan Sabah Wira chief Datuk Azis Jamman, Parti Amanah Sabah youth chief Rendy Ismail and Upko youth chief Felix Joseph Saang, urged leaders from across the nation to consider this suggestion and to allow an east Malaysian to solve the political turmoil faced by the country.

"We urge all Malaysians to remember the formation of the Federation of Malaysia in 1963, where all the parties involved acknowledge and agree to the equal rights for equal developments," he said during a press conference here on Tuesday . "We are now at a crossroads, so let us unite and use this opportunity to reform and give back Sabah and Sarawak's autonomy," said Phoong, who is Sabah youth and sports minister.

He said this could also allow Sabah and Sarawak the chance to get back its rights according to the Malaysia Agreement 1963 as equal partners.Asked why PKR representatives are not present in the press conference, he said the invite was sent to them.Article type: free
