The sanitisation was done following recommendations from the Health Ministry, usually when suspected Covid-19 cases appeared in the vicinity.

DBKL corporate planning director Khairul Azmir Ahmad said disinfectant was sprayed in Kampung Pandan, Dataran Merdeka, Taman Pantai Permai, Jalan Pantai Baru, PPR Kerinchi and PPR Seri Pantai.

“More sanitisation operations will be carried out in the coming weeks, pending location confirmation from the ministry, ” said Khairul. More than 100 personnel --- from DBKL, the Kuala Lumpur Fire Department and Alam Flora – were involved in the sanitisation operations over the past two weeks. The areas included public roads within 500m radius from Dataran Merdeka as well as the River of Life , Masjid Jamek, Medan Pasar, Central Market and Petaling Street.

Public facilities in Kampung Pandan including several schools there, PPR Cochrane, PPR Perkasa and Taman Maluri Flats as well as surrounding commercial areas were also sanitised.
