IPOH: Two senior citizens, one who is disabled, suffered breathing difficulties when a fire destroyed their three-storey shophouse near here on Saturday (April 23).

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the man, who is disabled, and a woman, both in their 60s, were found near the door of a bedroom on the third floor of the building on Jalan Pasir Puteh.“We immediately brought them down and sent them to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital for treatment,” he said.

He said the department received a distress call at about 8am, and firemen were still at the site putting out the fire.
