A statement issued by the palace on Wednesday said Sultan Sharafuddin noticed that, increasingly, people in the state were not observing the SOP.
"Through his Highness' personal observation, many are not abiding by the stipulated guidelines and are in public places without face masks or observing social distancing," said the statement. Sultan Sharafuddin was very concerned that if this continued, a second wave of infections could emerge and adversely impact the economy and people's daily lives, it added.
As such, Sultan Sharafuddin urged everyone to maintain discipline by always wearing face masks, cleaning their hands with sanitiser or soap and observing social distancing of at least 1m, said the statement."His Royal Highness is also urging everyone to appreciate the sacrifices of the frontliners, especially in hospitals, and not increase their burden," said the statement.
The Ruler also decreed that as long as there was no vaccine for Covid-19, everyone must try their best to adhere to the SOP as it was the only effective and proven method to eradicate the pandemic.
