Mazlan Mahadi, 51, was charged under Section 23 of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Act 2009 which is punishable under Section 24 of the same Act.He pleaded not guilty to abusing his position to recommend that a contract valued at RM1.7mil be granted to his relative's company.
He had recommended that the company, in which he is an interested party, be granted a contract to design, develop, deploy and maintain the AWS Landing Zone through direct tender. Mazlan, who faces a jail term of up to 20 years and a fine not less than five times the value of the gratification or RM10,000, whichever is higher, was accused of committing the offence at his office on March 25, 2020.
Judge Rozilah Salleh set bail at RM80,000 with one surety and ordered Mazlan to surrender his passport to the court and report to the nearest MACC office once a month.DPP Irna Julieza Maaras prosecuted while counsels K. Kumaraendran and Teh See Khoon appeared for Mazlan.
