PETALING JAYA: The search for the black box of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency helicopter, which made an emergency water landing near Pulau Angsa, off Kuala Selangor, earlier this month, has reached its second phase with 21 divers involved.
Besides the divers, the mission also involved others like sonar crew members and the Air Accident Investigation Bureau, said MMEA director-general Admiral Datuk Hamid Mohd Amin. “The navy and the National Hydrographic Centre estimated that the black box is within 700m to 800m of where the helicopter emergency-landed,” he said.In a statement, Admiral Hamid said that divers had encountered difficulties in their search for the black box due to high tides and poor visibility at sea.The first phase of the search was conducted from March 6 until March 24, focusing within a 1km radius of where the emergency landing took place.
