Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said the committee, which he chairs, would come up with standard operating procedures for the reopening of the houses of worship.
"There is an understanding that the committee is given the responsibility to decide which activities can be reopened as we move towards the end of the conditional MCO."We will decide not only for churches but for temples and other non-Muslim houses of worship," he said at the committee's daily Covid-19 briefing here on Friday .
Uggah was responding to the National Unity Ministry's list of 174 non-Muslim houses of worship in Covid-19 green zones which were given the green light to reopen from June 10.Uggah said he had discussed the matter with Senior Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, including the understanding that it would be the committee's responsibility to decide on the reopening of various activities.
He said the number of recoveries had now reached up to 90%, or 499 of the 552 confirmed cases in the state to date.
