Sarawak to apply for RM100m aid from Putrajaya to revive tourism industry

Wednesday, 09 Sep 2020 09:50 AM MYT

State Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said he welcomed the suggestion from his federal counterpart Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri. Abdul Karim said the allocation was not substantial considering the state’s huge landmass compared with other states, where many potential tourism destinations could be found in Sarawak’s divisions.

Abdul Karim pointed out the allocation is critical for the development of the local tourism industry as the Covid-19 pandemic had a devastating impact, forcing many tourists to cancel plans to visit the state.
