“Dengan rasa sedih dan pilu saya menerima berita kematian Tun Samy Vellu, bekas presiden MIC dan menteri legenda dalam Kabinet Malaysia, daripada anaknya, Vell Paari.Samy Vellu, 86 tahun, merupakan Ahli Parlimen Sungai Siput dari 1974 hingga 2008 dan berkhidmat sebagai Menteri Kerja Raya dari 1983 hingga 1989 dan sekali lagi dari 1995 hingga 2008.
Beliau adalah Presiden MIC paling lama berkhidmat selepas memegang jawatan itu selama 31 tahun dari 1979. –UTUSAN
