Sabah safe, should not be on US kidnapping risk list, says Shafie

Sabah Chief Minister Shafie Apdal says that while kidnappings have occurred in the state's east coast before, the authorities are doing their best to ensure security is tightened and to intensify surveillance. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, April 16, 2019.

SABAH Chief Minister Shafie Apdal hopes that the United States will remove Malaysia from the “K” list of potential kidnappings in the state’s east coast. He said Sabah was a safe state to travel to and that tourists from China and Europe continued to flock there, including to Sipadan Island and Semporna.
