KOTA KINABALU: The state government today launched SabahTrace, a digital check-in system that tracks shoppers and where they had gone shopping to facilitate contact tracing in case of a Covid-19 infection.

Sabah Covid-19 Centre chairman Safar Untong urged local businesses to register their businesses on the site to allow the SabahTrace mechanism to work in their premises. He said SabahTrace also eliminates the use of logbooks that are being provided by businesses at present. A quick response code ID would be issued for the businesses to print out and for the customers to scan upon visiting their stores, he said.Safar said a similar system is used by restaurants such McDonald’s and also by Maybank for cashless payments.Fake or not?
