KOTA KINABALU: Intense negotiations are going on between Umno and Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia on who gets to be the next chief minister of Sabah.

The forerunners are Sabah Umno chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin and Sabah Bersatu chief Datuk Hajiji Noor.that both sides are involved in hard bargaining following the announcement that the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah pact had won the 16GRS comprises Perikatan Nasional, Barisan Nasional and Parti Bersatu Sabah .

Umno has 16 assemblymen whereas Bersatu has 10 together with five from its ally Sabah STAR, while Parti Bersatu Sabah has seven. Shafie said his party is the biggest winner and under the Sabah Constitution, the leader of the party with the biggest majority shall be given the first opportunity to form the state government.
