Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal said Parti Warisan Sabah’s defeat in the Kimanis parliamentary by-election was a sign from the constituents that they did not want the PSS approved.
The Warisan chief said he would seek a meeting with the Home Ministry next week to inform them of the state Cabinet’s decision as the PSS implementation was under the ministry’s purview.“This is after listening to the voice of the people, not only in Kimanis, but all those who spoke against it.“Warisan also accepts the decision of Kimanis constituents and we will continue our services in the constituency as pledged, ” he told a press conference yesterday.
Barisan Nasional’s Datuk Mohamad Alamin beat Warisan’s Datuk Karim Bujang with a 2,029-vote majority.“Warisan is responsible for whatever decision taken by Kimanis folk. Don’t blame Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad; he has nothing to do with the by-election in Sabah, he was not around.On Tuesday, DAP’s Ramkarpal Singh said that Dr Mahathir, as the head of government, must take responsibility for the five by-election defeats, which included the Kimanis loss, since GE14.
