SABAH’S drastic drop in GDP growth in 2018 was the result of market reactions to the outcome of the general election the same year, a local economist said, while pointing out that the state’s economy was not in ruins. Last year was a time of uncertainty following the federal and state regime change and this had affected investor confidence not just in Sabah but the whole country, said economics professor Dr Kasim Mohd Mansur of Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
