Kota Kinabalu: The State Government is focused on strengthening the agriculture sector and ensuring food security through various initiatives, according to Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

Kota Kinabalu: The State Government is focused on strengthening the agriculture sector and ensuring food security through various initiatives, according to Head of State Tun Juhar Mahiruddin.

These include increasing rice self-sufficiency, developing permanent food production parks, enhancing the fisheries and livestock industries, and supporting the rubber sector, he said in his policy speech at the opening of the fifth session of the 16th State Legislative Assembly, here, Thursday.He said the government is also implementing projects to improve irrigation and drainage systems, as well as flood management, to reduce the risks and impacts of floods in the State.
