Restaurant owners lament the delay in state government getting approval from Putrajaya on the SOPs announced by chief minister Hajiji Noor on Monday. FMTNews Sabah MCO SOP Restaurant

Brandon Young and his staff sorting out online food orders at his outlet in Kota Kinabalu recently.Young, 40, opened Mamasita, offering Mexican and Spanish cuisines, in January last year, just two months before the first nationwide lockdown.

“I managed to open my shop for dine-in customers on Tuesday after the chief minister’s announcement that dining-in will be allowed but that was like a ‘cheat day’ for us. Chief minister Hajiji Noor had announced on Monday that several social and economic activities would be allowed in the state, including dining-in at restaurants, eateries and hotels, while hair salons, and stalls selling vegetables, fish and fruits by the roadside could reopen the next day.

Young said he could not understand why the federal government was making such a fuss over the SOPs now following Hajiji’s announcement. “Don’t even get me started on the inter-district travel within certain zones fixed by the Sabah government before. The federal government did not allow inter-district travel previously but they also did not object to Sabah’s initiative.
