In the clip, the woman is seen berating a policeman at an Ops Covid-19 roadblock after she was pulled over for expired road tax and insurance.Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hazani Ghazali confirmed on Friday (June 18) that an investigation was being carried out under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
He said the deputy public prosecutor has informed police to investigate the case under Section 506 following a report that was lodged over the incident.He said police will be calling in the woman to record her statement.The 34-year-old woman, who was driving a Toyota Harrier, was seen ranting at a traffic policeman who ordered her to park along the roadside at the roadblock after discovering that her vehicle's road tax and insurance had expired in January.
In the video, she angrily shouts at the policeman, who remains calm.Another police officer then asks her to leave but she continues to rant at the policeman. The policeman then issues her two summonses –- one for the expired road tax and another for the expired insurance. headtopics.com
A senior officer at the roadblock then orders the woman to leave the area and asks the traffic policeman to lodge a police report.It is learned that the woman was apparently irked that she had to wait for 30 minutes at the roadblock and claimed to be doing social work.
On why police were acting on expired road tax as motorists were unable to carry out renewals during the movement control order, Comm Hazani said six months had gone by and even the insurance was not renewed.The video went viral on social media after users started linking local politicians to the woman, with some dismissing any implied relationships as fake news.Read more: The Star »
