KOTA KINABALU: Malaysians have been urged to give the country their full commitment to help the nation grow in every aspect.

said since the formation of Malaysia 56 years ago on Sept 16,1963, the country has seen huge changes.He said Malaysians were in such dire straits, not only in terms of the economy but infrastructure, basic facilities, health and education but all that has improved tremendously over the years.

Shafie said though there is still much to be done for the people in the country, Malaysia has managed to instil unity and preserved harmony among its citizens of many cultures, race and religion. “Therefore, it is important that we as citizens, regardless of age, race and religion, give our all and our best to help in nation building, ” he said.

He said everyone should be thankful to God that Malaysia is able to celebrate another year of its formation. Shafie said Malaysians must not only sing praises and thanks, but also contribute to help develop the country into a place where everyone, regardless of their background, and their future generations can live.He said what is done today is to ensure the people of the country continue to live a prosperous and harmonious life.
