Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Misran Bisara said they are ready to respond to any emergency following an alert from the Meteorological Department. Sabah Meteorological Department director Amirzudi Hashim said the typhoon was still categorised as severe as of 2pm today but its intensity was expected to drop by Friday afternoon.

“It will not hit our country but we will receive the tail-end effect of rain and thunderstorms on the west coast in the morning and in the interior areas in the evening over the next few days,” he said.
