Fajar-Rian staved off a spirited challenge from young China pair Liang Weikeng-Wang Chang to secure a 21-18, 18-21, 21-13 win in 68 minutes.
The victory was sweet as they were beaten in three games by Japan’s Takuro Hoki-Yugo Kobayashi in last year’s final. “It was not easy as we had to play three games in four rounds but it is our responsibility to battle back although we were down. It has been a tiring week for us but we are happy to land the title,” said Fajar.
“We’ve to recover and try to do well in the India Open next week. We have to be smart and try not to drag our matches.”
