KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board (CVLB) will start issuing one-off RM500 assistance to 3,908 e-hailing drivers in Sabah and the Labuan Federal Territory starting Monday (Aug 16).

Sabah CVLB chairman Datuk Chin Kim Hiung said this financial assistance under the Permekasa Plus Phase 1 involved an RM1.95 mill allocation.

"This aid is a continuation to the previous payment made to 2,588 drivers of taxis, rental cars, school buses and tour buses, which were distributed starting July 27 and involved an RM1.29 mill allocation,” said Chin in a statement on Saturday . He added that as of the closing date for applications on Monday , the Sabah CVLB has received 4,627 names of drivers listed by e-hailing operators to screen recipients for this aid.He said that there were several criteria used for assessment; the driver must reach an income target of at least RM500 monthly from the period of January to May this year, and driver must own an EVP and PSV that is still active on or after March 31, 2021.
