IPOH: About RM1.3mil has been lost to scammers in the first two months of 2022, says Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan.

The Ipoh OCPD said police are now investigating 26 Macau scam cases reported in January and February.

“The criminals contact victims, pretending to be officers from various bodies such as the Inland Revenue Board, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Customs, banks or other enforcement agencies. ACP Yahaya reminded the people to be careful when receiving such calls and to never give out personal data like MyKad numbers or bank account information.

He said the public can contact the police commercial crime investigation division here at 05-546 1071 or go to the nearest police station for verification or advice.
