KUCHING: The reopening of secondary and primary school classes in Kuching, Padawan and the Samarahan districts in Sarawak will be postponed from Wednesday (July 15) to Aug 3 in view of recent local transmissions of Covid-19, says Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah.

The Deputy Chief Minister said Years One to Four classes scheduled to reopen on July 22 will also be postponed to Aug 3 in the three districts.

"Based on advice from the state Health Department and with the agreement of the state Education Department, the committee decided that the reopening of schools in Kuching, Padawan and Samarahan to be postponed to Aug 3," he said at the committee's briefing here on Tuesday . "Childcare centres and kindergartens are still operating as well according to standard operating procedure ," he said.
