PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) has called for proper regulation of healthcare services and medication online.

Its president Prof Datuk Dr Subramaniam Muniandy said an audit by the Malaysian Medical Council and the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency on such services should be conducted to safeguard patients.

“Doctors who offer online services must take cognisance of the limits of online consultations and advise patients needing face-to-face consultations when cases warrant proper physical examinations or when communication barriers exist online, ” he said.
