The Sandakan constituency is gearing up for a by-election next month to replace Sabah DAP chief Stephen Wong.
“Giving away Sabah MP seats means surrendering our political and legislative rights to Malaya, losing our constitutional safeguards and weakening our bargaining position,” the Keningau MP said at the launch of Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku’s party machinery in Penampang near here yesterday. Jeffrey, who is also Tambunan assemblyman, said the past 11 months have shown that peninsula-based parties in Sabah, including DAP, cannot be relied on to guard state rights.
“We Sabahans need to take back control. We need to take back the keys to our own house, and not surrender to outside parties.”
But I offer no solution either. Do you think it’s going to be any different if we become independent? The powerful families will rule for decades until we have another GE14 style tsunami!
Local parties it is, hearts & minds are here in their tanah tumpah darah. But many of them have sold us off. My political acumen is only as good as what I see and hear & from what I gather, you can’t trust the current crop of sabahan leaders. They are all corrupted to the core.
