Chief executive officer Amir Hamdan apologised for the disruption to the Kelana Jaya Line on Friday when a carriage broke down at KL Sentral, disrupting travel for some 22,100 users."At 4.32pm, the Operating Control Centre received a notification that there was a brake issue involving train 62 at LRT Pasar Seni."When it reached KL Sentral, the brake system on train 62 experienced a hydraulic leak, resulting in it being unsafe even to be driven manually.
Following this, Amir added that the OCC had then decided to cut off power supply to allow engineers to carry out inspections on the train. "We are in the process of progressive brake system replacement and repair works which began in October 2021. Meanwhile, Rapid KL Kelana Jaya Line chief engineer Leman Zakaria explained the power cut was needed to allow the technician to release the brake caliper manually which is under the train. He explained that unlike normal cars, the brake pads on the system were always in applied mode, a default safety system especially if there was a leak.
