Raise debt limit, don't break your own law, Najib tells govt

Najib Razak chides finance minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz over his explanation on the government’s method of calculating debt.

“But it is wrong for the government to break its own law and breach the debt limit that it proposed and which was passed by Parliament.” Najib said the government’s estimate that debt will hit RM975 billion this year would bring the debt-to-GDP ratio to 64.5%. Even then, he said, this is if the “very optimistic” 7.5% GDP growth target can be achieved.

Please don’t talk about breaking the law here, especially coming from a convict .

How much of the debt is from 1MDB , NajibRazak ? Tens of billions? Hundreds of billions?
