Putrajaya, TNB, industry to subsidise electricity discount under aid package

The government, TNB and the power-production industry will jointly subsidise the RM530 million allocated to provide electricity bill discounts to consumers as part of a stimulus package to counter the economic impact of Covid-19. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, March 27, 2020.

THE RM530 million allocated to provide discounts on electricity bills for six months will be jointly subsidised by the government, Tenaga Nasional Bhd and Kumpulan Wang Industri Elektrik , said the power supplier today. TNB on its own has pledged RM150 million to support the government’s announcement of the tiered electricity rebate as part of the second stimulus package to counter the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.
