Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said the federal government must finalise how to fund Penang’s LRT project, as announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim earlier today.
Speaking to reporters in Permatang Pauh today, Loke said the federal government would use the state government’s reports on the project “as a reference” that it would “take into consideration”, Utusan Malaysia reported. In return, the proposed Penang South Islands massive land reclamation off the southern coast would be scaled down, the prime minister said.
Loke said the federal government would need to finalise how it will fund the project. This would need to take place before work could get under way, he said.
