As noted in our previous reports, the X90 marked the national automaker’s first foray into the New Energy Vehicle segment. This is due to the fact that it will become the first Proton model to be released with a hybrid power unit.Specifically, the X90 will be featuring a 48V Electric Motor Synergy System alongside its 1.5L TGDi three-cylinder turbo engine.
While it might be based on Geely Okavangi , the X90 has been given a newly-designed front grille which was apparently inspired by songket. Available with either a 6 or 7-seater configuration, the new SUV has also been installed with a 10-inch LCD digital instrument cluster while there is also another 12.3-inch display for its infotainment system. In addition to that, the X90 will also carry several safety features that have never been featured on previous Proton models.
At the moment, Proton is still keeping the price tag of the X90 as a secret and it goes without saying that we expect this particular information to be made public on 7 May. In case you need a comparison though, the X50 currently has a starting price of RM86,300 while the X70 starts at RM98,800.
